1. Project Description

Design and create an invitation and the title for the Second Year Graduation Exhibition to be opened on June 17. As a class group you will need to discuss, brainstorm, and come up with 3 concepts for your exhibition title and 3 invitation designs.

You will need to consider the individuals participating in the exhibition, the nature of your artwork and how you might best represent your group show with a title and invitation design.

You will be assisted in working through ideas during class, and you will need to work out the roles of your group in coming up with 3 options for title and invitation. Use the strengths of your group in design, concept development, using digital media, photographing artwork, organising and directing others to come up with a professional and engaging invitation that will be used to promote your exhibition - to the VU mailing list, to industry partners and for you to distribute to family, friends and professional contacts.

This is an opportunity to participate and engage in a design process that will have a creative outcome that you can use to promote your own work.

2. Requirements

Discuss concepts and titles for the exhibition and invitation.

Use whiteboard, paper and digital media to brainstorm and document your creative processes in developing this project

You need to come up with 3 options which the class will ultimately vote on to choose the final invitation design. Your teachers will assist you and consult with you to recommend the best way to go about coming up with the design, and to offer technical help to turn your concepts into Photoshop image files.

You will be provided with a template used for the 2012 exhibition invitation which contains Vic Uni logo and other necessary details that must be on the invitation:

3 photoshop files with the following settings:

  • image resolution: 300 dpi (print quality) / Save for Web - 72 dpi (print)
  • image dimensions: 210mm x 99mm (DL size)
  • colour setting: RGB (can change to CMYK if professional printing required)
