BSBCRT403A Explore the history and social impact of creativity

Unit Description:

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to explore the history and social impact of creativity.
No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of endorsement.

Application of the Unit:

This unit applies to individuals who develop and apply knowledge of the history of creativity at a broad rather than deep level. Understanding the concept of creativity, how creative people think and how creativity has been applied through history can provide individuals with inspiration and ideas to take into their own work and lives.

Evidence of the following is essential:

  • knowledge and understanding of the history and social impact of creativity, including its contemporary relevance to individuals and communities.

Delivery methods:

This Subject will be delivered through a variety of methods: lecture, presentation of online content, class discussion, workshop projects and activity, reflective and analytical writing exercises, problem-based learning as an individual and as a group, off-campus gallery visits, guest speakers and group collaboration and participation in projects.

Assessment Methods:

  • Direct observation of class activities and project work
  • Regular review (in class) of blog for progressive assessment
  • Oral questioning and/or discussion
  • Written reports and presentations developed for assessment tasks
  • Review of artworks and creative content presented in class

 

Assessment Rules

This subject is assessed on an ongoing basis via a variety of tasks and activities. If you do not submit adequate work by due dates you will not be able to complete the Unit of Competency.

Attendance & Participation

Failure to attend and participate in the scheduled classes in this unit of study will seriously jeopardise your chances of a successful outcome. Students are strongly encouraged to keep in touch with their teachers and education managers if experiencing any difficulties in this regard.

 

Resources Required

  • Access to computer, Internet connection and software for for email, digital imaging, document production and web access via browsers for research.
  • Personal creative media materials such as art/design materials, drawing paper, etc.
  • Portable USB Stick or Hard Disk Drive (minimum 10GB recommended)

  • ways in which different factors impact on creativity and how it is demonstrated in various cultural contexts.

Team Work – Group projects including production activities, tutorials and project development.

Learning, and Technology – The unit involves the use of industry standard software with ongoing discussion of new technology developments, tools and uses for the creative practitioner.
