Class 7 - Exhibition Logistics & Ethics

Discussion

Look at how artists deal with exhibition development focusing on the logistics of complex and experimental exhibitions and the ethics that may be involved. Do you have complex and variable work that requires particular considerations for exhibition? Are there different contexts for exhibiting your work?

What are the particular limitations and considerations of creating a virtual exhibition?

Class Activity - Group project

Work in your groups to come up with an exhibition concept

Details for the Virtual Art Space website account

I have set up an account that everyone can use for this project. the details are as follows:

URL: http://www.3dvas.com/galleries/profile/artists/artistProfile.php?uid=6978

username: CX4

password: vacx42012

Unfortunately the "Artist Profile" options are geared towards a single artist exhibition, but I have tried to bypass this by calling the account "Various Artists". If you want to come up with a collective name for this profile, you can change it as a group.

As yet no exhibitions have been set up. Once you have a title, you can create an exhibition and start working with the gallery space. You will need a thumbnail image to represent the entire exhibition, and you can write a short description of the exhibition too.

Explore the VAS website to see what content you can add/edit and the instructions for uploading images and video to the gallery.

Homework / Readings

Your homework will be to add some content to you blog - a couple of posts, some images perhaps...

Also, continue discussing your exhibition with the group - you need to come up with a concept, and select the content fairly quickly.
